After spending a few days on the smaller, more laid-back island of Folegandros, we were looking for a place to unwind,  and that's exactly what we found at Verina Astra.

The hotel is perched high above the Aegean, offering breathtaking views of a charming blue-domed church and crystal-clear turquoise waters (see picture above). As soon as we arrived, we were struck by the peace and quiet.  Verina Astra consists of only seven independent suites, each with its private terrace overlooking the endless blue horizon. Our room was incredibly spacious, comfortable, effortlessly elegant and the views from our terrace were mesmerizing.

The highlight of the hotel is undoubtedly the stunning cliffside pool that faces the ocean—an ideal spot to soak up the sun and take a refreshing swim.  Lunch and breakfast (which was FANTASTIC) can be taken either in the small restaurant area or on the terrace of your own private terrace. We also tried the separate restaurant, Bostani, which serves more gastronomical food. The views are spectacular although it can get a little windy and it is quite exposed - but you can ask for a blanket. 

Astra Verina Hotel is a perfect place to unwind and relax. We took leisurely strolls down to the secluded beach next to the charming blue-domed church.
